Thawing & Flame

Thawing and Flame: The Destruction of the Ecosystem is a short environmental documentary exploring the accelerating effects of climate change in Yakutia, Russia.

Through visual storytelling, the film examines how rising temperatures, thawing permafrost, and increasingly destructive wildfires are transforming the Siberian landscape. Beyond environmental degradation, these changes threaten local ecosystems, infrastructure, and the communities that depend on them.

As the permafrost melts, a way of life hangs in the balance.
